Game Proposal Document

This document will be the closing capture statement of the Concept Development Phase. Requires customer approval.

Idea

The idea is to create a sim park where people can go and learn/train on various types of simulators. A simulator will consist of real world training scenario. These scenarios can be flight sims, tank sims, planning strategy, or something like a computer terminal operator. The possibilities are endless.

The target platform is to have the game be an mmo being open to everyone in the world or have it locked down and open to certain groups. This can also be somewhere in-between. The nature of the physics involved for the various sims would require the game to be home grown.

The initial area will consist of a main showcase area where the user can browse the various simulators. Once the user has chosen a sim there will be a load screen that creates a completely custom environment for the chosen sim. The user will then be immersed into the sim with the potential to have other participants or training admins there to help.

Target Market Segment Strategy

The target market would be anybody and everybody in the military. This is from the grunts up to the generals with specific training simulators across the board.

Our first customer should be the army. The reason is that we currently have a working relationship with the army and the army has expressed desire for a system similar to this. For pricing on the non proprietary content, the ideal method would be to charge a rate for each training sim the user wanted to use. The problem is that would generate a very low user traffic. The other option is to allow free access and have advertising supplement the costs. Advertisers would be Northrop Grumman, Lockheed, Boeing, and others. Of course the happy medium is somewhere in between.

Game play

This is a group of simulators plus some Real Time Strategy with some action adventure. The style of game play will rely heavily on the type of training.

Features

The simulators will be accessible to everyone with a computer. Also, the training level doesn't need to be a complete recreation of the actual situation. The training can be simplified so that it can be more of a refresher or an introduction to the real training.

Target Market

The target audience is the military on all ranks. The idea is to make it easier for the people in arms to learn or keep up to date with their jobs.

Target Hardware Platform

The target machine would need to be connected to the internet and have the ability to push 3d graphics. An example would be a bottom of the line machine from the local tech store.

Estimated Schedule and Budget

Depending on the number of training environments, the current estimate would be around 18 to 24 months.

Competitive Analysis

Nobody has really started to target a mid level training simulator that would be accessible to everyone in the military.

The Team

At the minimum the team will need a game programmer and a 3d modeler.

Risk Analysis

Identify any potential risks in developing the game and describe ways of mitigating them. These are software development risks.

Summary

While military personal is stationed at a base waiting for deployment they could be training on current systems or scenarios that are relevant to their mission. Also, new recruits could be deployed faster if they were given access to a system such as this. The new recruits could get familiar with the activities they would be performing before they got to the base they would be training at. Then the training that would be conducted would be shorter because the recruit would already be familiar with the training. With two ways of keeping military personal sharp on the tasks that they need to perform the military would become more efficient than it currently is.
