New TV Playback Proposal Document

This document will be the closing capture statement of the Concept Development Phase. Requires customer approval.

Idea

There is a project that downloads RSS video content for my viewing pleasure, it's call Media Downloader. I would like an application that would tell me that there is new shows to watch and play them back for me. Also, it would be nice to have this app allow me to tag the show for deletion, keep, or post to a website for later viewing. Also, this app could eventually turn into the app that replaces Beyond TV for viewing all my media content.

High Concept

Watch the rss content that's being downloaded.

Target Market Segment Strategy

This is to identify what the underlying message will be and how it will be conveyed to the target market.

Features

  • Plays back new content that has been downloaded via rss.
  • Allows tagging of this content.
  • May include features that Beyond TV has plus more

Target Market

Eventually when this app is more complete this could be the ultimate app for managing and using any media content someone could own.

Target Hardware Platform

Any computer that can play back video/dvds.

Estimated Schedule and Budget

4 weeks at 1 FTE.

Competitive Analysis

There is a multitude of apps out there for managing media. They seem to be in two camps. In the one camp is the dvr type that gives you control over your TV (cable, satellite) but no other features. Then there is the other camp that is more of a library to all of your stored content. The big problem with the library is that if it changes you have to do a lot of re-organizing the content again.

The Team

Someone that udnerstands user interface development and MSSQL integration.

Risk Analysis

The only risk is that this work will be preformed in my free time.

Summary

It would be cool to have the ultimate in multi media playback and organization.
