Politics

People like to fantasize that there is a shadow government that is unified and working together to control our society. This is false. The problem comes down to people. The system works just like any sales situation. Somebody wants something and they have to convince the other person to give it to them. Sometimes the other person sees some benefit from helping out the other person so they move forward with giving the other person what they want. The only difference between the normal person and some high level official is the amount of money they are playing with and the size of the favors they ask. So because of individualism people are out for their own benefit. If they had a collectivism mindset, socialism would have taken hold by now. But thinking about this some more. The democratized system works better than other systems is due to it's decentralization. I.e. individuals control their own paths in life which gives them more freedom to pursue their own ideas which ultimately could have a large impact to change the system/economy. Where highly socialized systems or centrally controlled government systems do not allow for people to pursue their own ideas that could potential change the system/economy, because the individuals that have power don't want to give it up. You see this with companies that are trying to maintain market share so they create laws that will favor their companies and wont allow other companies to move into the marketplace. Basically, people are natural individualists, they are out for themselves. First and foremost. While people are willing to help others, if something threatens their own livelihood, then they will work to save that first then worry about others. It's human nature and why a decentralized government works best.
