This is an extension to the OpenGL Car project. I created a car model and world using only openGL to make the models. This is tedeous and time consuming. There are a lot of points within a good model. Creating each point by hand is not realistic. So I started using 3ds Max to make the models and export them in the 3ds file format. This will make displaying models in openGL a lot easier.
Use 3ds max to create 3d models and load them into OpenGL.
For someone that doesn't want to hand create or mathmatically generate a 3d model.
Quicker 3d model creation and use. The 3d model will be more acurate and look better. The loading of the 3d model will be quick and accurate.
Anybody that wants to make games.
Pentium III with 512mb ram.
I'm using a library off the internet so this should be a minimal amount of work.
I'm creating this to learn about the ins and outs of game development.
Someone that knows C++ and MFC along with OpenGL and 3ds Max.
3ds may be an aging file format.
Creating a capability to import models will greatly increase the quality of the graphics of any game I may create.
